We interrupt this broadcast…

Hey folks…

Sorry about the technical difficulties…

featured We interrupt this broadcast...

We’ve been a bit out of sorts…

What with all the prep…

And hunkering down…

And battening down the hatches and all.

featured We interrupt this broadcast...

Hurricane Irene has put a crimp in our plans.

We’ve lost power…

Lost cell service…

And most importantly to the kids.

The Wii dosen’t work!

And my own personal heartbreak?

featured We interrupt this broadcast...I had to throw out everything from the fridge and freezer.

But nobody is hurt.

And power will be back on soon…hopefully.

And then we can shower.

And play Wii.

We’re hoping to be back to business soon.

featured We interrupt this broadcast...

We’ll be back in action by next week with tons of back to school stuff.

But in the meantime…

Please enjoy some of our funniest posts…

My 2 year old went to jail yesterday

Case of the missing toothbrush

Second Child Syndrome

Dance like nobodys watching

and finally….

Im Changing My Name

Fingers crossed the hurricane cleanup goes smoothly and quickly.

And our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has loved ones, homes, and property that has been affected or damaged.

Back to School with Staples

I’m reposting this as time is running out to take advantage of killer savings!

It’s coming it’s coming!!!

It’s just around the corner….

It’s sneaking up faster than you can imagine.

Any day now we’ll be packing them up and sending them back to school.

This year…

Staples is making Back to School simple and affordable.

Not to mention giving back to those less fortunate.

So grab your easy button and follow me…

But hurry up, because time is a wasting!!!

featured Back to School with Staples

To the land of organization.

I love school shopping.

It’s a brand new start.

featured Back to School with Staples

A brand new year to keep everything up to date and organized.

At least that’s what I tell myself.

Until the pencils get lost…

the dog eats the notebook…

and Cooper uses the markers and crayons on the wall…

featured Back to School with Staples

But at least Staples has made the Back to School shop a little easier on the wallet.

With great deals on everything from laptops to these awesome Glam calculators!

featured Back to School with StaplesI’m sure I’d have done much better in Algebra II/Trigonometry if I had those beauties up there…

Oh and check out these adorable flash drives!

featured Back to School with StaplesHow  cute???

My two favorite things about Staples this year?

Easy…

1.  Savings Pass!

For just $10 you can grab yourself a Savings Pass that saves you 15% all Back to School season long.

Save on backpacks, binders, pens, pencils, paper and more!

Just buy the pass by August 13th and you can save everyday from now until September 17th!

I’m a sucker for savings!

2.  Staples has  teamed up with Do Something.org to get school supplies to kids who need them!

Kids hit hard by the tornadoes in the midwest?

Kids who don’t have enough money to buy their own supplies?

Staples and Do Something are organizing drives and getting kids what they need most to make it a successful academic year.

Oh and these gals here are helping out too….

In the interest of full disclosure I attended a bloggers soiree at Staples in NYC and learned all about their fun back to school items.  I was not paid to write this post, but I was given a nifty little notebook and pen and a small gift card.  I’d have written this post regardless…so there!

Best part was I got to FINALLY meet one of favorite bloggers!!!

featured Back to School with Staples

That’s me and my girl, Jill, aka Glamamom!  She’s awesome and we spent the afternoon sweating our way through a very hot NYC day in the city!  But it was all worth it.  Except for those fluorescent lights we’re standing under there.

Thanks to Dada Rocks for taking this picture!  And to the Moms and the City for throwing this cool event!

Rachael Ray Photo Shoot

Keegan and I are going to be in the October issue of

Everyday with Rachael Ray.

We’ll be in the grocery cart ambush section.

We did a photo shoot for the magazine at Whole Foods.

Thought I’d share some of the pics my hubs took while we were shooting it.

No kids allowed? The Brat Ban

Have you heard about this?

It’s the  new movement swelling to ban kids…

featured No kids allowed? The Brat Ban

Ban them from restaurants…

From movie theaters…

Even from airplanes.

Yup…

So to save you from this…

featured No kids allowed? The Brat Ban

There will be no more love at Mickey D’s!

featured No kids allowed? The Brat Ban

No!

Not that Mickey D’s!!!

This one….

featured No kids allowed? The Brat Ban

This is McDain’s Restaurant of Monroeville, PA

Where they proudly serve billions and billions…

As long as you’re over 6.

If you’re not…

Well you’re out of luck.

Yup, it seems the “Brat Ban” movement is growing and taking aim at small kids.

And before you jump all over this and scream…

“That’s just not right!”

Wait a second.

They may have a point.

featured No kids allowed? The Brat Ban

What???

Is Ma agreeing with the child free sect and over the hill geezers that clearly forgot what it’s like to be a parent?

Well, sort of…

But not entirely.

First of all, I respect any business’s right to uh…

“Reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.”

If that someone happens to be my absolutely adorable 2 year old…

featured No kids allowed? The Brat BanWell then clearly your heart has turned to stone and nothing I can do will help you.

Just kidding…

Seriously, if that was the case then I will happily take my money elsewhere.

Now…

Back to agreeing with that proud Child Free lot…

I hear you…

And I agree.

I don’t think that a restaurant is a proper place to be for my 2 year old…

On a Friday night…

At 8 o’clock.

My 2 year old is home sleeping.

As is my 5 year old, and the 6 year old…

And I’m usually there with them.

But if by chance I’m not…

If I’m out on say…

A date night…

With the hubs…

featured No kids allowed? The Brat BanUh yes.

We look surprisingly like Tina Fey and Steve Carell when we go out.

If I am out at said eatery on a Weekend night later in the evening…

Then I certainly can understand not wanting to hear a screaming toddler.

Or get a chestful of spaghetti after a young child throws a forkfull across the joint.

featured No kids allowed? The Brat Ban

No…my kids didn’t do that…

I did…

As a baby…

In Little Italy…

I’m a fun date.

Anyhow….

I totally understand not allowing children into restaurants, movies, etc. later in the evening.

But banning them all together?

Really?

I think that’s a step too far.

I think it might be time for us as parents to step back and take a good look at what we’re doing.

Yes, we live in America.

Yes, it is a free country.

Yes, you should be allowed to bring your kids anywhere you want, anytime you want.

And if you want to bring your kids to a 10 o clock movie and then out to dinner afterwards then have at it.

But if your kids get cranky and you start getting looks…

Well then?

I know my kids and they get cranky later…

And hungry.

So when I take them somewhere nice to eat you can bet your buttered biscuits that we roll early.

Really early.

Like 5 early.

Early bird special early.

And if they act up…

Which they do from time to time.

It’s out the door you go and wait in the car.

Not alone mind you…

But you don’t behave that way in a restaurant.

So I get it…

I know it’s nice to have the kids with you…

Out as a family…

But it’s also nice NOT to have them with you.

Especially if they’re not yours.

Like that nice couple sitting next to you.

So have a heart and leave the kids at home on Date Nights.

So that this Brat Ban doesn’t spread any further…

Like the Whole Foods in the midwest that has “Child Free” shopping hours.

Or the movie theater ban.

Or the airplanes.

What’s next?

Parks?

Sidewalks?

Trains?

What do you guys think about the “Brat Ban?”

Dancing the night away

Oh What A Night!

Remember that song?

Love that song!

But it accurately describes my sentiments on this past Monday night.

I went on down to the city to hang out with some of my favorite Mommy Bloggers at Swarovski Crystals in  NYC

at a party courtesy of the Moms and the City to celebrate the launch of a terribly cool new book.

featured Dancing the night away

Carla and Leos World of Dance is a delightful look at the history and origins of Ballroom Dance written by model and mom Agatha Relota.

Not to mention the amazing illustrations by Theirry Perez.

And the super sweet forward by Hottie Mom, Jessica Alba.

This book would inspire anyone to dance!

Even my boys!

And dance the kids did…

Well not mine, they were testing for their orange belts at karate…

featured Dancing the night away

Which they literally kicked some butt at!

Congrats boys!

BUT…

If they were there they’d have kicked up their heels for sure!

Like these cool kids!

featured Dancing the night away

The munchkins all had a blast mixing it up with ballroom dance pros.

And these two were awesome!  Have you seen them?

featured Dancing the night away

Tristan and Tyler are adorable standing there with the Moms and the City gals.

If you haven’t checked out Tristan and Tylers Tales from the City go and visit them.  It’s such a treat!

Back to Carla & Leo…

What a wonderful book!

And I got the chance to talk to Agatha, the beautiful and talented author.

featured Dancing the night away

courtesy of Owen Hoffmann/Patrick McMullan.com

She had a baby 7 months ago and let me tell ya…

She is looking hot…

And tall!

And she says it’s all thanks to dance.

I mean…check out those legs are her!

She is clearly one hell of a dancer!

As were these fantastic budding ballroom stars tripping the light fantastic.

But I was so glad to take a book home to the boys as I can’t wait to walk through the world of dance with them.

I mean other than Dancing with the Stars that is….

featured Dancing the night away

Carla and Leo cover it all…

From the Samba…

To the Viennese Waltz…

The Foxtrot…

To the Tango.

We get to learn the history of the dance and all about the places they come from.

Oh What A Night, indeed!

And learning all these dances may just lead to some more great nights!

Thanks again, Ladies!
