Thanksgiving overload – Game on!

Right about this time I’m sick of looking at everything Thanksgiving.

Every morning show…

Every cooking show…

It’s all turkey…

All the time.

Right now I need to take my mind of the bird.

So I’m going to do a bit of Mommy bragging instead.

Last night Keegan took to the ice in between periods at the

Bridgeport Sound Tigers game.

So exciting for the kids to get a chance to skate

On professional ice surfaces.

The kids get psyched to see and bump fists with all the pros in the tunnel.

It’s one of their favorite times of the year.

Nothing could be cuter that a bunch of 6 year olds skating around to Snoopy music!

Keegan’s team may have skated to a 0-0 tie.

But the Riverhawk Mites had a blast!

At least the Sound Tigers won 5-3!

Thanksgiving surprise

Have you ever promised your kids something…

Then hoped they’d forget about it?

That doesn’t work with my oldest.

Nope, can’t put anything past Keegan.

featured Thanksgiving surpriseKid’s like an elephant…

He NEVER forgets.

So a few months back when he asked for a specific hair style.

One that I wasn’t so much a fan of…

I got sick of arguing.

I said OK…

But not till after school pictures.

So this week, guess what I had to hear all week?

Yup…It’s haircut time.

Keegan’s way.

So here he is.

Wait.

featured Thanksgiving surpriseYup…

Kid’s sporting a hawk.

Not a faux hawk.

But a Mohawk.

My mother in law is going to freak at Thanksgiving.

As are all the other parents in his class.

Because guess what?

They all want the hawks too now!

I must admit…

He does look kinda cute.

And he reminds me of one of my favorite characters from back in the day…

Remember this guy?

5. Stay outside! – Never go inside anyone’s home.  If their not handing out candy in the doorway don’t go in

6. Stay visible! – Dark costumes may look cool but they’re hard to spot in the dark.  The lighter the better.

7. Check your treats! – Always look over candy before the little ones gobble it up and only eat treats in their original wrapper.

8. Have fun and eat tons of candy! – I always let the kids go crazy and eat as much candy as they want that first night and then the candy makes a quick exit.  Our dentist lets you sell the candy to him.  $1 a pound.  Now that’s a good deal.

Tasty Tidbits – Brussels Sprouts

Ok, these are really my favorite veggies ever!

And for some reason, people are turned off by them.

Probably because somewhere along the way…

You probably had them boiled to death.

cooking tips Tasty Tidbits Brussels Sprouts

I get it.

But if you do them right…

Say roasting them…

Or sauteed with shallots and pancetta.

Then you know how good they are!

Here are some fun Brussels Sprouts facts for ya…

They are part of the brassica family with it’s broccoli, kale, cabbage and collard greens siblings.

They were first cultivated in Belgium, around Brussels, hence the name.

California is the largest producer of Brussels sprouts in the U.S.

Brussels sprouts are high in sinigrin, a glucosinate thought to prevent colon cancer.

According to a recent study, they are the most hated vegetable in both the US and England.

Brussels sprouts are thought to prevent and even reverse blood vessel damage.

They are super high in dietary fiber, vitamin K, vitamin A, and vitamin C.

So in other words…

Eat your brussels sprouts!!!
