For the love of all that is FROOTY

memoirs from mommyville For the love of all that is FROOTY

Say it aint so!  I can’t believe there is something up with the Froot Loops, and for the record I never buy Froot Loops.  First off I’m suspect of the name, FROOT.  FROOT?  Really?  Makes me think there is nothing actually fruity about them.  I got suckered into these bad boys during a recent Walmart outing and Brady was screaming and I really needed dog food so I caved, I did, I just needed to get thru the store and get the stuff so I let them have the damn FROOT loops.  And now, look what happens…figures!

Wanted to get this information to you if any of you missed it.  Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Froot Loops, and Honey Smacks have been recalled.  Check out the info below.  Now if Special K had been recalled, I’d be in trouble.  FYI, nobody’s been sick and there is no weird smell.

The following cereal products packaged in white foil bags due to an off-flavor and smell coming from the bag.

  • If you have questions or you would like a replacement coupon, you may contact the Kellogg Consumer Response Center at 888-801-4163.You should not eat the recalled products because they do not meet their quality standards.

    Ewwww…gross cereals…gross!!!

I just can’t purchase something that has a typo in its title…can’t do it! I was still surprised to see this recall though…I don’t know why.

  2. My aunt, who is here visiting, was just lamenting about this. She bought a box of Honey Smacks, which she NEVER does, as a treat for her boys to have at the beach this week- Um Yup- RECALLED! :)

I hosted a little BBQ this weekend in their honor with some of the many cousins who also live down here by me and made a take-off of your London Broil on the grill- HUGE hit! Then my aunt made risotto last night with the leftover steak, onions and mushrooms- SOOOO GOOD!!!!

  3. Alex aka Ma, What's For Dinner says:

Mmmm, steak onion and mushroom risotto!!!??? Sounds fantastic. I’m so glad the london broil was a hit!

  4. The dog food is probably more nutritious than Froot Loops. :-)

  5. kerry says:

gross! I wish they would take all this kind of cereal off the market. it is just full of crap! HFCS, artifical dyes and preservatives are so terrible for all of us.

  6. Sucks that when you actually break down and buy something like that, it gets recalled. I guess that is your sign to never buy cereal that goes by the name froot again! :) Thanks for the heads up on the recall!

  7. I remember reading about the recall, but I haven’t eaten cereal for years so it was in one eyeball and out the other. Great info to pass along though! I would be a little suspicious of a ‘froot loop’ as well. :)

  8. OK, I’m so embarrassed to say this, but I never realized it was spelled Froot until you pointed it out. I ALWAYS thought it was Fruit Loops!! I need to get out more!!:)

  9. Shell says:

What the heck? I don’t have any of those cereals, though. My boys are on a honey kix kick right now.

  10. gnee says:

I had not seen this Alex, thanks so much. All these cereals are so pricey and there’s lots out there that’s so much better for your kids. I’m glad you don’t “cave” too often! Keep me on top of things, please..and have a good one.

  11. Chef Dennis says:

there have been so many recalls this year, its starting to get scary!
the good thing was I only had one item in my kitchen that was recalled.
But every year we get more and more recalls…and the scary thing is we ave no idea whats in all of the foods we get imported….

  12. lexlocilori says:

Yuk. Froot Loops always made my tongue raw. All of those are really disgusting. I do kind of like Frooty (sic) Pebbles– but I don’t think I have had those since my son was little.

  13. marissa says:

lots of family members tease me about not allowing my children to have these “frooty” cereals, and now this recall?? GROSS! Glad you shared the info with your readers :)

  14. Alexandra says:

    Thank you for this…

  15. Cheryl says:

I don’t know anyone who eats this stuff but I bow to your keen eye and wisdome for passing all of this information along.

  16. Lazaro says:

    Alex,

Interesting post. I am not a big breakfast cereal eater, but I would have to go with Wheaties.

    Cheers!

  17. I left you two awards on my blog!! Thanks for all the support and love!!

Thanks so much for stopping by to see me and for following! I look forward to getting to know you. Let me know how you like the Almond Butter Chocolate Chip cookies? Thanks! Candace~♥

  19. I’m so glad I don’t eat any of those cereals. I make oatmeal almost every morning. Pretty boring actually. I make it with whole milk, brown sugar, and cinnamon. I am so not looking forward to trips to the supermarket in the future when my 10 month old is aware of all the child targeted food marketing.

  20. Eww is correct! We don’t usually do a lot of cereal, if I do I pick some up at the bulk section because it’s less expense and then put in my rubbermaid container. I do like the Bran w/ Yogurt bites :)

  21. Tammy says:

Never been a big cereal fan and if I do eat it, it’s without milk…I know, call me crazy! lol…my favorite right now is Chocolate Cheerios…great as a lowfat chocolatey snack!

  22. Katy says:

Of course they would get recalled after you bought them!

We are a cheerio’s house here! Chocolate, original, honey nut, yogurt…I’ll eat any of them except for banana!

  23. Funny thing was I was craving fruit loops last night. I haven’t actually had them in years. Something smelled like them. I guess that new funky “Recalled” smell would not have satisfied my craving! Thanks for sharing!
