Tasty Tidbit – Avoiding Burns

Here’s a tasty tidbit for you to keep everyone safe and happy in the kitchen and able to enjoy this holiday season!

Keep the handles of your pots and pans on your burners turned towards the back of your stove.

Try, whenever possible, to cook on your back burners.  It’s much harder for little hands to reach all the way back there.

Kids’ inquisitive nature makes it easy for them to try and grab whatever is bubbling away to take a closer look.

Pulling one of those handles could spell disaster!

Breast Cancer Awareness & The Pink Glove Dance

It’s the end of 2009 folks.  And some team of crack pot scientists put together by the health insurance companies governmental fact finding team came out and said that women don’t need mammograms until their 50′s?  Are you freaking insane kidding me?  And then a separate group of idiots team decided that sexually active young women don’t need pap smears either, and some of us don’t need to get them every year anymore.

In a time when we have the ability to detect not only breast and cervical cancer early but cure it at an incredible rate, the idiots the insurance companies are trying to tell us not to get tested in order to save our own lives?  Well you know what I have for you?  How about a big ol’ SCREW YOU NO THANK YOU.  I will continue to get my tests and make sure all of my loved ones do the same.

As someone who knows way way too many women who have both survived and battled and beat cancer, and some who have succumbed to the devastating disease, I am using this last day of the decade as a call to action to remind us we must stand up and fight cancer, all cancer, and find a cure by the end of this next decade.
