Wordless/full Wednesday 5

So sorry for being a bit quiet this week. I’ve been running around like a crazy Ma having meetings with production companies and network execs! Very exciting stuff. Stay tuned for lots and lots of good stuff. Meanwhile we’ll be shooting a segment for Moms and the City and a Dad Named David in a of couple weeks.  I’ll keep you posted on when you can see it.

Today’s Wordless/full Wednesday is about Courage.

This is my oldest, my most cautious, my most thoughtful boy, Keegan.  We went to a carnival and usually he’s not interested in the big rides.  Especially a 350 foot slide!  Well the little man was terrified but he got up there and threw caution to the wind and launched himself down that slide like a mad man.

“Courage is not the absence of fear but the triumph over it.”  Nelson Mandela

When that kid got to the bottom of the slide his smile was as big as those eyes!

Priceless!

This is one of my favorite memories of the summer.

I can’t believe the kids go to school in two weeks.

What’s your best memory of this summer?

I just love the look on that face! I bet he was beaming when he reached the bottom :)

  2. Eleanor says:

I had two boys (now all grown up) and I saw that look many times! It was usually accompanied by “Nah — I wasn’t scared!”

  3. The look on Keegan’s face as he’s coming down that slide says it all. It’s when he’s safely at the bottom that his triumph over fear is real and accomplished! I remember that. As a child, we had a giant slide out in the countryside in northern MN. It was a rickety old wooden thing, stood really high above the ground, something all the government agencies would forbid in this era, for sure, and I approached that slide with the same feeling I see in Keegan. That’s my most fun memory of the summer – the one you brought back to my mind. :-)

    Go KEEGAN!!!!!!

So are you saying you’re show is going to be aired? I can hardly stand not knowing!! My boys love those potato sack slides. Keegan looks like a man who just braved his fear and is still not sure he should have done so. Good for him for throwing caution to the wind.

    I’ve missed having you around!

  6. LisaDay says:

That is courage. I hate slides.

I loved watching my guy explore the world with me watching without him realize I was doing so. Fantastic.

  11. Blond Duck says:

We had a big hill at my middle school and we used to go down on cardboard boxes, just like this ride. But the bruises were free!

  12. My kids would NEVER go down a slide that big! Brave boy!!

  13. Sara says:

Too funny! It looks like he wants to scream but can’t.

  15. Great photo! He looks terrified but congratulate him for me for being brave enough to slide down! I remember the high diving board as a child. I climbed up, looked down and climbed back down the ladder.

    Way to go Keegan!

    Happy WW!

    Cheers :-)

love that picture and the look on his face-PRICELESS!! Our best summer memory is definitely dinner on the back porch, slicing a SWEET watermelon and letting the boys get D-I-R-T-Y! We’ve done that a lot this summer, despite the 100+ weather :)

  18. Looks like he had a great time! Those slides are the BEST!
